Dr. Sonia Sharma graduated from Maharishi Dayanand University’s School of Dental Sciences in Yamuna Nagar, India, in 1994. She excelled in her Bachelor of Sciences (B. Sc.) program at Punjab University, earning the prestigious University Merit Gold Medal. Before relocating to Canada, she gained experience as an Intern dentist at the University Hospital.

Upon her arrival in Canada, Dr. Sharma underwent a series of reciprocity and equivalency examinations at the University of Toronto Dental School, administered by the National Dental Examining Board of Canada. Following successful completion, she obtained licensure to practice dentistry and was admitted to the membership of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Since 1999, Dr. Sonia Sharma has been dedicated to private practice. Initially, she served as an associate dentist in Georgetown, Brampton, and Mississauga before establishing her own practice. In 2002, driven by a commitment to community service, Dr. Sharma opened her own dental facility in Brampton, initially located on the 3rd floor of an office building near Bovaird and Hwy 10. The practice quickly gained popularity due to Dr. Sharma’s passion, personal touch, compassion, and empathy. In response to increasing demand, she expanded her practice in 2008, inaugurating a new ‘state-of-the-art’ facility conveniently located near Hwy 410, known for its Art Deco architectural design and patient comfort. Regular renovations in 2018 reflect Dr. Sharma’s dedication to innovation and patient care.

Patients travel from across Ontario and even the United States to receive treatment from Dr. Sharma. To better serve patients from the Eastern Greater Toronto Area, she established another cutting-edge facility, “SmileCare Dental Markham,” in 2019.

Dr. Sonia Sharma emphasizes a conservative, preventative approach to dentistry, prioritizing patient education to prevent dental issues. She advocates for regular checkups and scaling to maintain oral health and believes in preserving natural teeth throughout a patient’s lifetime.

With locations in Brampton and Markham, Dr. Sonia Sharma has earned the trust of thousands of patients through her compassion, empathy, and commitment to excellence since 1999.
